This kind of ‘hybrid retreat’ is a new innovation and is designed to meet the needs of these challenging times. We are trying out a new form and hope that it will provide a powerful way to integrate retreat and daily life.
We propose to complete the Retreat in 3 live sessions per day online, live and interactive, via the Zoom platform. You will need a stable internet connection and flexibility to create the space you need to engage fully with the programme.
THE THEME:
Mindfulness and Compassion, Investigating the Four Brahmavihārās, the sublime attitudes:
The Brahma-viharas are:
loving-kindness or benevolence (maitrī/metta)
compassion (karuna)
empathetic joy (mudita)
equanimity (upekṣā/upekkha)
They are also known as the four immeasurables or four infinite minds. We will also be looking at the Metta Sutta and The Heart Sūtra. Whilst having their roots in Buddhist psychology, the themes and explorations will be presented in terms of secular mindfulness programmes such as MBSR and MBCT.
