In TT1 you will learn to teach the core meditation practices and develop and practice the skill of facilitating Inquiry – a key part of the group learning process. There will also be in-depth discussion and exploration of the Curriculum of the 8-week MBSR course including group exercises contained in the course and reflection on how to teach them. The practices, foundational skills and approaches you will learn are common to both MBSR and MBCT.

ONLINE MBSR Teacher Training level 1 – Foundation level: The focus of this course is to learn how to teach the MBSR core practices, deepen our understanding of the MBSR course and to deepen our personal practice.
ONLINE: We propose to complete the retreat with the same schedule and timings online, live and interactive, via the Zoom platform. Your attendance and participation must meet the same requirements, i.e. exactly the same number of hours and tasks are completed, you must have a stable internet connection and create the space you need to engage fully with the programme. We will send more specific instructions when attendance is confirmed. Below is the daily schedule planned for the week.

MBSR Teacher Training level 1: The focus of this foundation course is to deepen your personal practice and learn how to teach the MBSR core practices (see more details below). We will also explore the theories and intentions of the Inquiry process as a core element of MBSR & MBCT and we will also practice inquiry in small groups.
In a safe and nurturing environment, we will assist you in cultivating your skills and you will receive supportive kind feedback and assessment using the MBI-TAC from Bodhin and the team to support your development.
The core practices are:
- Body Scan Meditation.
- Sitting Meditation: Awareness of Breath and Body.
- Mindful Movement, Standing, Seated and floor-based.
- Sitting Meditation: Open Awareness Meditation.
- Including Inquiry workshops and practice
- Including Supportive Assessments with the MBI-TAC, the 6 domains.
WHAT CAN I TEACH AFTER EACH OF THE TEACHER TRAINING COURSES?
On successful completion of the Foundation MBSR TT1 course with us, you will be awarded the certificate of attendance “Foundation MBSR Course” and have the Badge “MBSR Teacher In Training” for your website. We will automatically add you to our worldwide Directory of Mindfulness MBSR Teachers with a link to your website or email and option to have your profile on our website.
WHAT CAN I TEACH AFTER THE LEVEL 1 COURSE?
AFTER the Foundation Level 1 course:
Typically you will have the skills and confidence to teach all the core Meditation MBSR practices, including Mindful Movement and foundation Inquiry Skills.
Next Steps After level 1:
- Gain teaching experience and deepen your personal practice by practising Teaching the MBSR core practices including Mindful Movement learnt during the Foundation course to family, friends, in classes or workshops
- Deepen your personal practice by for example attending a 5-7 day Silent retreat as a participant.
- Optional depending on skills of the individual – Optionally Co-lead an 8-week MBSR course and/or Lead an 8-week MBSR course with the Mindful Academy Supervision package or as per the Mindfulness Best Practice Guidelines a minimum of 3 hours supervision per course.
- Continue your Personal and Professional development as discussed during the MBI-TAC teaching assessment criteria feedback and end of level 1 course review.
- Undertake ongoing Supervision and development as outlined in the Mindfulness Good Practice Guidelines.
CAN I REGISTER AS A TEACHER?
On successful completion of the Level 1 course with us, you will be eligible to join our Worldwide Directory of Mindfulness Meditation and Mindfulness MBSR Teachers with a link to your website or email.
